Yuken Teruya's Paper Art
Simple but beautiful ideas: Japanese artist Yuken Teruya brings paper back to life with his intricate crafting. In the LVMH series (above), he assembles miniature trees from cutouts taken from paper shopping bags, placing them inside the bags; the resulting aperture lets natural light bathe the scene and create shadow and movement.
Trees and plants are a common theme through several of Teruya's works, and there is an obvious link between the subject and the raw materials; however, there is also the suggestion of new life growing from old, just like the fundamental process which occurs in nature.
You can find information and other works by Yuken Teruya at the Saatchi Gallery and on ArtNet.
