Robert Montgomery
Robert Montgomery practices a bit of subtle situationism with these billboard-commandeering poetry installations. Currently installed on London's Old Street (to coincide with Montgomery's exhibition at KK Outlet), the poems are a provocative and enlightening comment on modern consumerism.
I particularly liked the first piece shown here, which exposes some of the roots of this fragile world we have built for ourselves:
“because you had to give names to everything you found, and make logos for bad ideas, and change your car every two years and wake up early for conference calls, and it turned out to be no progress at all”
This great piece at The Morning News contains interviews with both the artist and a section of his audience, and is well worth a read.
