Min-Kyu Choi's Folding Plug

Folding Plug by Min-Kyu Choi Folding Plug by Min-Kyu Choi

Min-Kyu Choi, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, has redesigned the humble UK mains plug.

In these days of widespread miniaturisation, the plug is often the bulkiest part of an electronic product: this clever design allows it to fold into a much more elegant, portable shape, while still maintaining compatibility.

good one but British Standards would be in the way!!!

Take look at this one…This looks more promising and amore of a real product than anything I have seen before.

Zihni Yalcin is the designer and the product is called ThinPlug and ThinCharger.

I first seen it at Red Dot museum in Essen when it won a product design award.

Good find, Richard - I prefer the design of Choi's plug, but as you say there are probably some practical issues.

as a gigging musician this plug and its very clever multiadaptor would be a fantastic improvement over the current UK plug. However, due to the UK Government's "nanny" mentality we are not now clever enough to change our own plugs but must by appliances already fitted with plugs so, Mr Choi's plug could be sold in a complete lead with an IEC socket on the other end - WHAT A GOOD IDEA!!!!!! Bet it doesn't happen!
