Michael Kenna

Asparagus Sticks, Study 2, Hokkaido, Japan, 2007 Thirty Fence Posts, Shiroga, Hokkaido, Japan, 2004 Six Sticks, Omi, Honshu, Japan, 2003

These amazing photographs by Michael Kenna show their subjects in stark isolation; as viewers we are sometimes confused as to what we are seeing. Kenna's work could be described as minimalist photography: simple, but beautiful and compelling.

There are hundreds more images on his web site—I think my favourite set are those from Japan. You can also find a few more here.
